It just makes me sick....

Written by Ari at 12:27 AM 2 Comments
It just makes me sick that some people sink so LOW to get books!

In the past month I have read more blog posts about people in the blog-o-sphere doing things like PLAGIARISM! HARASING AUTHORS! *in a non playful way like me and Heidi R Kling. She knows I am not trying to be cruel or anything. She knows I am joking* CREATING CONFLICT WITH OTHER BLOGGERS!

Do you guys agree with me?!
These things are just wrong.

Kristi at the Story Siren just wrote a post about how someone has been plagiarizing off of 3 AMAZING bloggers! *I hadnt heard of them, but I went and looked and I really liked what they wrote.*

http://www.thestorysiren.com/2010/04/my-one-piece-of-advice.html

These three bloggers were....

http://www.persnicketysnark.com/

http://stephsureads.blogspot.com/ *only one I knew about before hand and I love her reviews*

http://www.thecompulsivereader.com/

These are all AMAZING bloggers! Why plagarize off of them?
The reason most likely *this from the thinking of a teenager* If these plagarizers were teens, they were most likely thinking, "Im just in this for the books. Who cares if its not something I write? I get away with it in school! I have better things to do, like sit in front of the TV and watch porn and bad disney sit-coms instead of putting energy into writing a 150-250 word review!"

Yeah, they were probably thinking that. But hey thats just me, a teenager, someone who sometimes thinks those things!

But guess what! I am a fourteen year old girl! Some days I just throw my book at the wall and scream, "Why the hell do I even review books!"

And then I remember. There are some people out there, even if it doesnt show, that are READING my stuff! They like it!

I would probably MURDER someone if they plagarized my work. Because lets be honest it would be pretty obvious with my nutty little comments planted here and there!

I remember I read a blog post (this blog post http://presentinglenore.blogspot.com/2010/04/book-bloggers-behaving-badly-are-you-on.html ) and I was just thinking to myself, "Bloggers are like that? But I havent done any of these things! Im just starting off! I only have relationships with authors through talking with them constantly!"

For example. When I started off blogging I had no idea what I was doing. The original name of this blog! Was  "BA-Bookaholics Anonymous" I was muttering off short nothings about books that I checked out from the library. But I slowly waded my way through the blog-o-sphere picking up little ideas here and there! But they were only ideas! Simple things like how to format a review! Even that I managed to personalize! Everyones is different. Or how I do giveaways! I was just blindly trying to figure that out until I found out bloggers use Google Docs! I wasnt doing anything wrong! I was just trying to figure out what I was doing!

Its simple. Getting basic info like formatting a review, or how to host a contest is an OKAY thing  to take from a bunch of other blogs, just put your own twist on it! However just summing up what they said without linking to it is WRONG! You dont DO it!

I follow the rules. So I am just angered at this.

If you are doing any of things I have ranted about or normal people have mentioned in one of the links posted above then STOP IT! Your hurting us! We get nothing out of this! I spend hundreds and hundreds of dollars buying books! *and bookshelves*

Realize that taking a good review and claiming it will not get a publisher to give you free ARCs!

You are going to lose. You will get caught, you will get in trouble, and it will NOT end pretty.

So just stop it.

You dont want to get caught. End it before it gets ugly.

Since she was a little girl, she has felt the echoes the dead leave behind in the world . . . and the imprints that attach to their killers.Violet has never considered her strange talent to be a gift; it mostly just led her to find dead birds her cat left for her. But now that a serial killer is terrorizing her small town, and the echoes of the local girls he's claimed haunt her daily, Violet realizes she might be the only person who can stop him.Despite his fierce protectiveness over her, Jay reluctantly agrees to help Violet find the murderer-and Violet is unnerved by her hope that Jay's intentions are much more than friendly. But even as she's falling intensely in love, Violet is getting closer and closer to discovering a killer . . . and becoming his prey herself.

The Last Song by Nicholas Sparks

Synopsis: Seventeen year old Veronica "Ronnie" Miller's life was turned upside-down when her parents divorced and her father moved from New York City to Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina. Three years later, she remains angry and alienated from her parents, especially her father...until her mother decides it would be in everyone's best interest if she spent the summer in Wilmington with him. Ronnie's father, a former concert pianist and teacher, is living a quiet life in the beach town, immersed in creating a work of art that will become the centerpiece of a local church. The tale that unfolds is an unforgettable story of love on many levels--first love, love between parents and children -- that demonstrates, as only a Nicholas Sparks novel can, the many ways that love can break our hearts...and heal them.

Yay, I most likely will NOT have an IMM next week so thanks for staring at this one :)

Ari :)

Written by Ari at 7:03 PM 2 Comments
So some of you guys asked for more personal content. So Im gonna start off with telling you guys a little about myself. (lydia and our newest blogger can do this if they choose)

Anyway my name is Ari and Im a 14 year old girl who has been reading since I was 6. I was the creepy little girl who was reading 3 grades above the class. I love to write, big fan of writing fanfiction :)

(a look at my style of fanfiction from my story Anorexics Of America)

My past was sketchy and it created a unraveled future. It led to problems for me. For others. And it led to me knowing I would have to change to ever have a chance with a guy I wanted. My mom never really wanted to admit to the world her husband was no longer much of a husband. More of a stranger who lived in her home every now and then claiming to be her husband and father of her child.
But he wasnt. My mother knew that. It led to problems. Maybe that was why 2 years ago she ended up in the hospital with a stroke. No one who knew her 5 years before hand would have pinned her as the type to have a stroke at the age of 41. It was his fault. My dads fault. He lead her there. I remember when everyone asked me how I was doing. The fact my mother was forever changed. I remember I just simply said, "Shes alive. Why should it matter how I feel?" I was desensitized. I was numb. Maybe because other than her and my father I was the only one who really knew the truth.
She had changed herself. She became a cheerleader on the side for my father. Hoping to keep him from straying so far she could no longer keep a hold on the thin rope she had. She had pushed herself to far. And one day rushing out of the house to go do something for him. It had happened. I was at school when I was asked to go to the vice principals office. They told me. I stared at them. My eyes hollowed into my skull. I could tell they felt uncomfortable. Having to sit across from me and look into my empty eyes that sunk into my skull.
Now she was no longer active. She stayed at home all day. She had given up on him. But neither divorced for real. But everyone knew. They were over. Everyday she would softly ask me how school went. I would scowl hearing her words run and trip over each other. My cousin would suck up to her. Do everything that I should have done. But never did.
Sketchy pasts lead to sketchy futures.

Yup thats one of the ways I spend my spare time.
Im also a violin/viola/piano player. Lol fear me world and my multi musical talents!!!
I used to be a singer. Until I had to choose between violin or singing.
Anyways...
I can read 120 pages in an hour *completely useless fact XP*
I love rootbeer *once again USELESS*
I do weird plays all the time.
Oh and I like to take pics of random things.

Most of my friends are the ones I meet online.

*thinks* thats all i can remember right now :)
Comment if you want more about me. *less crazy info* or email me at fanfictionadict @ yahoo . com if you ever just wanna talk :)

Happy Birthday

Written by Ari at 12:00 AM 0 Comments

Okay so todays my birthday but that doesnt mean squat. Today we are celebrating a true visionary's birthday.

Edgar Allan Poe
"Men have called me mad; but the question is not yet settled, whether madness is or is not the loftiest intelligence– whether much that is glorious– whether all that is profound– does not spring from disease of thought– from moods of mind exalted at the expense of the general intellect."
In honor of his birthday, Im going to review each of his works that I love the most :)

The Tell Tale HeartThis is a truly chilling tale about abusing trust because of hatred. I loved this story for years now and I truly find it heart quickening and exciting. I always find that some horror stories/movies bring this aspect into the story line. This is unique and adventurous showing that guilt can drive a man to insanity.

The Premature Burial
This is a disturbing story shedding light on the world of burying mortals alive. It focuses on a man who is pronounced dead. But later goes on to say that he was still alive when pronounced dead, being prepared for the burial, and the most chilling of all, knowing he was being buried.  I loved this story even though the whole time I felt like the room was shrinking around me.

The Pit And The Pendelum
Not many people enjoy this story, and I can see why. This story of a man being trapped and facing his own doom is horrifying. Classic Poe. But also it shows a dark and disturbing image that will haunt your brain. The whole time you imagine a poor man being trapped, watching as a deadly pendelum swings above him showing him his own doom. A great story but most definitely not for the faint of heart.

The Cask Of Amontillado
This story was extremely disturbing. It was repeatedly the same thing, the man knew he would get what he wanted by torturing the man slowly by saying, "I will just go to this other man." The story is suspensful having you wonder. You always wonder. Nothing leaves you knowing for sure. This story has you use your brain.

Happy Birthday Edgar Allan Poe
May you have another great 201 years.
Read an interesting article about a painting portraying Poe as what you wouldnt expect him to look like....
